A 6-25x56 with a 35mm tube that weighs 2.8lb with mount and a length of over 22" with shade.

What are you trying to accomplish by mounting a scope designed to be used on a .338 Lapua or 50 BMG when you can only shoot a .308 200 yards? You could do the same thing with a lightweight fixed 4x.

I also agree with a lot less magnification. I just recommended an SWFA 3-9x42 in another thread. I would have a hard time considering anything less for hunting though. Yes, you can get an accurate shot on medium and larger game at 200 yards with a 4x. However, 9x comes in handy when looking to see whats beyond the target, counting points, and determining gender.

I mean for $389 I rather have more than I need with room to grow than just enough for what I currently have..

Its too big, odd sized tube and weighs too much. You can get a nice vortex diamondback 3x12 or 4x16 for that.

I looked at one of those Millets at Gander Mountain and it is not a great scope. At high magnification it was not very clear at all. It is gigantic and your money is better spent elsewhere. I would rather have a razor sharp fixed 10x than a cloudy/hazy 25x any day. And it is very heavy.

*Excessive magnification for what you say you need it for.
*Very big and very heavy.
*An inexpensive glass but you are getting what you are paying for in the worst way.

Just my opinion but it just too much glass for how you plan to use it and you could buy a better scope for about the same amount that would fit that need better.

Honestly, for 100 to 200 yards do you even need magnification? What are you shooting at? If you're just target shooting and plinking a scope isn't even necessary at those ranges. A good red dot reflex sight will do.

If you insist on a scope stay with lower power, something like 3-9x and look for something more compact and light weight.

I got used to stadard A2 sights in the Marine Corps (our qualification took us out to 500m on a KD range.) Now that I'm old and blind, I opted to go with a scope. One of my friends (former fellow jarhead and current SWAT sniper) helped me choose a cost-effective yet quality scope. He recommended to me what he has on his LWRC .308 that he was issued. He could have gone "big & bad" high $$$ but went with the Nikon M-308 BDC, which is on his personal M&P 10 (hbar bull barrel from the compliant model). You can get more scope, no doubt. There will be a ton of opinions (& disagreements probably) but I've always trusted professionals opinion. Btw his tack-driver is an m-40ish 700BDL with a Schmidt & Bender. Great glass ($4500+ it better be!) I love my Nikon. About $550 and reliable as an anvil. Good luck in your quest.

I used a 6-25x millett last deer season and it was way too much magnification on my 75 yard shot. I had it turned down to 6x and it was difficult to find her in the trees with that kind of magnification. When I got on target it was clear and the shot was easy but as others have said it is too much scope for inside 200 yards.

If you want the millett for price amd such I would suggest their trs1 which is a 4-16x. I currently am using a 1-4x vortex viper pst on my m&p10 that I cut down to 16" and threaded for a brake. Should be much handier this year in the woods and still allow accurate 200 yard shots easily enough
