I have a CS9 and really like it. It's too big for pocket carry, in my opinion. Loaded, it's something like 26 ounces. Anyway, I love the S&W's because they usually come with a manual safety and a mag disconnect. I'd like to find another gun with those features, but smaller. The Bodyguard is attractive to me, with the manual safety, but it's a .380, and I would like to avoid buying different calibers. The Ruger LC9 has everything I want, a manual safety and a mag disconnect, but it doesn't look much smaller than the CS9, although it is about only 20 ounces loaded. I'm not selling the CS. Just maybe keeping it for cooler, jacket wearing months.

It's a caliber change from CS9, but you may want to consider a 442/642 Airweight. Failing that, the Kahr PM9 fits the bill for me.

No safety but a long, smooth double action trigger. ALWAYS carry a pocket gun in a good holster, follow standard gun safety practices and you'll be fine.

Shot my buddy's Sig P238 the other day - it is the answer but sooo expensive.

I have a LC9, and I really like it. I would really like to see S&W make something comparable.

I looked at a lot of alternatives...the SIG P238 isn't DA, and a lot of people have problems with them. Plus, it is expensive and it's not a 9mm. Taurus makes the PT709, but I don't care for Taurus products. Kimber makes the Solo, which has a very smooth trigger, but it is very expensive and there have been a lot of problem reports with that pistol...plus, Kimber isn't known for great customer service. SIG has the P290, but it is a lot more expensive, holds one less round, and doesn't have a safety.

So, considering everything, I chose the LC9 for pocket carry, and I am glad I did. I had an LCR, but the LC9 is so much flatter and seems to carry better. The LCP is just too small for me.

pocket 9mm

The cs9 is too big for pocket carry. The keltec pf 9 is more what your looking for. I really would like to see the 642 in 9mm . This would be a monster to shoot at 15 oz. :)

You're probably a semi-auto guy and there's nothing wrong w/that, but for me a pocket gun meeting your requirements dictates either a J frame or older Colt Cobra in .38 spl. It is safe and packs plenty of punch w/modern SD ammo. They are usually cheaper then semi-autos and .38 ammo is plentiful. Just my two cents worth . . .

Kimber Solo? I haven't investigated it because of the price but it may have the features you want. I know it has a manual safety. Not sure about mag disconnect. It's a 9mm. I know Kahr has a version of the PM9 that has a manual safety. Again, out of my price range.

Nah. I like revolvers very much. I have a model 19 and a model 686. I've had model 10's, 64's and a 36 I actually used to carry a Ruger SP101, and then a 642. I moved away from the 642 for one reason. It has no safety. My other guns are in the safe unloaded. They get loaded for range time. My home defesne gun is a Beretta M9. That's locked in a gunvault with a mag in and safety on, but not chambered. About a year ago, i was carrying my old model 36 and was putting it away when me 3 year old asked to see it. I unloaded it and gave it to him with the cylinder open. He took it, closed the clyinder, cocked the hammer, and pulled the trigger! I have not taught him how to use a gun (yet). Then he says "now the dinosaur falls down dead". Now, I'm very responsible about keeping them out of his reach, but I am human and therefore capable of a brainfart. If I DO have one, I'd prefer the gun not be as simple to operate for my son. when he gets older and more responsible, I'll probably switch back to the j frame, but for now, i really feel a gun with a manual safety is for the best.

Buy bigger pockets. :p

I like my LCP but it's not a 9mm...

I wish S&W made a 9MM version of the bodyguard.

Man, that thing would bark! I said the same thing about my Kel-Tec P-3AT "Why can't they just make a 9mm this small?"

And then I tried out a PF-9 also by Kel-Tec. Bigger yes, but still small and very light. No thanks. Not that the recoil itself was a big turn off but expecting to get fast and accurate follow up shots was asking a little much. Practice would be paramount.
