Pocket Carry CS9

I'm trying to make my CS9 better for pocket carry. I ordered a walnut ksd grip to replace the hogue. A while back I replaced the ambi decocker with a single sided and i have a sticky holster. My question is, can I put a model 39 magazine base plate on the CS9 magazine to make it flush fit? Does anyone here pocket carry a CS9 and have any advice? I think that I have a spare 3913 delrin grip that could be converted, if that makes it slimmer than ksd grips.

Something like this...?



Single side safety/decocker, shaved 2 steps
Slide stop, shaved 2 steps, slightly dehorned
Regular magazine nut (same spring, use loctite for retention)
3913 modified grips (destroyed 2 grips on the process)
3913 magazine base (there is a mod that you can use a slimmer mag base, but I don't find it comfortable)

I do not own a CS-9 but I do own several CS-10s

At least on my magazines the plastic bass plate does not add anything to the length of the metal body of the magazine it is there to be a little spacer between the bottom of the grip frame and where the metal body of the magazine ends

So putting a flat base plate on it would not change how long the magazine is at all

I do not have a CS9 magazine to compare it to but I have to believe it is a similar design

With the steel 39 base plates the magazines don't fit flush. They leave a slight gap, (that bothers me,) but an O ring can fill the gap. There's info and pictures here.

The KSD's are the same width as the factory grips. You'd be thinner doing the 3913 grip mod.

I don't pocket carry a CS9 but have a couple nice IWB holsters.

I will keep that in mind. I might try the 3913 conversion but I'm going to see how the ksd works first. The hogue texture seems to grab the inside of my pocket. I think the walnut ksd will be better, also because I already ordered it.

The real answer...

My real answer to your question is that this won't help as much as the right kind of pants. I can put my cs40 in certain pockets of certain breeches, because of the most important modification I have ever made to my complete weapon carry system...
...I lost 50 pounds.

--Guzzi's idea of slimming the safety and the slide release will help greatly on the draw because everything catches in your pocket on the draw.
--Another post recently showed a DAO conversion idea that looks like it might help.
--Just changing that plastic baseplate will not help if you look at how the mag is constructed at the base. I think you could cut and rework the metal of the bottom and create a modified short mag. Even so the gun is going to fall back in your pocket against the butt even if there is no mag in the gun. I carry a Colt Mustang in my left front pocket, but it does not work well. A Charter Bulldog On Duty is better, and a S&W 38 Bodyguard Airweight is always just right.

You are right about the 38. I have a 642, its got to be the most comfortable and easiest way to carry. My CS9 fits in the sticky holster that I also use for the 642.

Agree and understood.

I like the CS KSD grips I have.

Not as perfect as the pre-rail 4513TSW baseplates with a CS45 mag but the 3913TSW baseplates, or complete magazines are a close match for the KSD grip. The front could be shortened a bit to be perfect but it doesn't bother me.

Not sure if this helps, but I used 39 baseplates on my 3914 to make it "flush-fit."
I imagine a CS9 would be the same. There is, however, a small space, like was mentioned above. Almost like a Kahr CM9, if you're familiar.
Speaking of that little Kahr....you could get what you're looking for at around 275 used.

I see that I was not clear. My left-handed gun is always the backup or my "New York reload". The biggest problem is you must have it in your pocket in condition two. Much better to carry that pistol on my ankle in condition 1. The way I shoot and the way I train, it does not matter much at the target which hand I use. However, I have worked hard to get under a three second draw with my RH from a concealed pancake style strong side holster.
I like the idea of standing around with my hand in my left pocket which I do anyway. The Model 38 works great for this, as does the Mustang, but a bigger gun is too big to fit the hand in the pocket around the gun. A Glock 42 works only with certain trousers. Nothing works with any pair of jeans except to use the back pocket and thenthe butt sticks out.

This is my CS-9 that I presently do not carry.

This is my CZ-75 Compact that I often pocket carry on a Remora holster. Somewhat loose cargo pants, right hip pocket, nobody sees it.

A smaller pistol like a CS-9 should be a breeze if I can carry that CZ in a pocket.

When you posted that you pocket carry a CZ75 compact, I thought that was much too large for pocket but it made me start thinking that I would really like to pocket carry my 6906. I shaved some off the pinky extension and bought a pair of pants one size larger than I normally wear and the 6906 works for pocket carry. I found a pair of pants that works good. Wrangler Rangers at Walmart $33. There are some similar wranglers but I think the Rangers seem to be the best ones.
