A BMI that hinted at obesity prompted a sea-change in my eating habits, right about the same time this whole pandemic kicked off.

I took the opportunity to make some healthier options -sometimes- and cut out a lot of sugary garbage. I’ve managed to drop 41lbs since March 1.

Not wanting to eat bad lo-cal food, but still wanting to lose weight took a bit of creativity, and a lot of planning, but the food is something I enjoy instead of dread !

Tonight, it’s a Poké Bowl. Starting at the 12:00 position, we have cucumber salad, traditional poké, teriyaki scallops, edamame, and spicy tuna. The middle is sushi rice topped with sliced avocado.

Healthy and delicious !

Oh, thank goodness! I thought you might have eaten Gumby's sidekick.
Congratulations and good luck.

Poke restaurant, really, what part of the country does one find such a thing?

Think of sushi (rolls), UN-rolled into a bowl. But, instead of getting all flavors and textures generally in one bite, you can enjoy each alone if you wish.

SFAIK, it began in Hawaii, then hit our west coast, and so forth. It's been in Phoenix about 3-4yrs, IIRC. The Carolina's may have to wait a bit, I don't know.

Congrats on the weight loss.

FWIW, I've had good results on a plant-based, high-carb/low-fat diet. Got sidetracked during the lockdown (ordered way too much takeout), but since I've gotten back on track I've lost about 6lbs in the last month. My first three months on the diet my A1C went down 30%. My doc said he hadn't seen that much of a drop without insulin. My blood lipid profile has gone down, too. My blood pressure has dropped enough I'm probably going to ask my doctor about cutting back on my medication dosage.

God bless you.

If I ate like that I'd starve.

I can eat a lot of food and never gain much. I never stop going and that's probably why. I'm not hyper, just busy.

Beer gives me a gut and I try my hardest but I really love beer. I have a bit of a gut. ;)

Thanks. Learned something new.
I've been trying to figure out how to get some exercise and lose weight during this virus pandemic. Best I could think of was to tie my bicycle to snubbyfan and ask him to tow me along the canal.

You are making my mouth water, all my favorite things! Last time I was fishing a fellow angler made Poké from a fresh caught trout. He was an Aussie who had recently traveled to Hawaii and discovered the dish, smart man. I always enjoyed Poké in Hawaii, I figured it was a short trip for the fish from water to the bowl.

I love Poke and I also love to buy some ahi slice it thin to make my own sashimi and enjoy with wasabi and soy sauce.

I'm a poke eater too. Been eating it for almost 50 years. Lots of different versions now days and some of them are pretty good but I still like the traditional. Swordfish makes a pretty good poke too. I was in Port Saint Lucie a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised to see there was a poke restaurant on Village Parkway in the Traditions area. They had a bunch of versions but couldn't make traditional poke. Last time I was in Hilo one of the local supermarkets had many poke selections in their deli. I had poke almost every night I was there, which was almost a month. Been too long now.

There are two within 3 miles of my home.
On the off chance this isn't some western only fad, I Googled it for Greenville SC. Lo and behold, it's a thing here also, even a franchise called Poke Bros. It's a small world after all.
