:) We have a LL as there is no cell service up here. My wife has a cell phone that she leaves in her car, I do not own one.

We also have a rotary on my desk for emergencies as all our other phones (Cordless) need electricity to work. Rotary still works well but takes a extra few seconds to dial out.

We do have a portable generator but I run it on and off, and if it’s off the rotary still rings and we can dial out without generator. Hey it works for us!:D

There are probably youngsters that have no idea what a rotary phone is, not even knowing how to use one.

But I sure do, here is my phone that sits on my computer desk. when this baby rings it rings. Picked up about 4-5 years ago at the Flea Market for $5.00, mint condition, just brought it home and plugged it in.:D

I grew up in the age group of record players, 8 tracks, cassettes, microwaves, CD players, VCR's, rotary phones, video games, internet, PC computers and cell phones. To see the birth of some of these inventions like the CD player, cell phone and the internet, using a record player and know what an 8 track is, it is kind of neat.

Truthfully, I bought it at the Hollis Flea Market in Hollis, NH.:)

Put it in a locked box in my trunk but removed the receiver which was kept in my locked glove compartment.

Also have a NH Non Resident Permit which allows interstate transport.;)

When I got home, I waited until it got dark before moving it into the house.

One great benefit, when receiving annoying calls, I just give them the old tick tick tick tick without saying anything.:D

There was a similar poll waaaaay back when. I noted at that time that the age groupings explained a lot of the posts.

I can add to that observation: most of the youngin's are on Facebook, Twitter or some other (and non educational) way to waste time.

Good man use the law to your benefit!: D With age comes wisdom!

I'm 55.

It's funny, I was just wondering how many others like me were born under less than fifty stars. I just barely made it under the wire before Hawaii became a state.

26...

I don't own a single semi-auto handgun, but have a nice round dozen S&W revolvers(at my last count) plus a couple of Colts, one of the "other" Wessons, a Ruger single action(ashamed to admit it) and even an Italian single action copy.

I collected telephones pretty actively at one time, although I'd mostly moved away from them and sold a lot of them

This one set on the corner of my desk for a while(connected to wartime production Western Electric subset repurposed fro an old magnetic era local battery wood box set that a couple of old time collectors told me "didn't exist" until I showed it to one of them in person).

I have since replaced this with a "Candlestick" type Western electric-a late model dial candlestick with a "Bulldog" transmitter and full anti-sidetone circuitry(makes talking on the phone a lot more pleasant). Unfortunately, candlesticks are a pain to use for very long, so I don't use it a lot.

Iggy, did he call you old man and ask about when Ole Yellow Hair was a boy? :D

T'other way around. He was an old man, and I was just a boy.:)

He use to come down from Pine Ridge to Frontier Days with the Lakota bunch that danced in the parade and at the shows every day.

A few years later, I would drive the old Cheyenne Black Hills stage coach in the parade and grand entry at the rodeos.

When I was growin' up we answered the phone if it rang 2 longs and a short.

Dang, I can feel my bones fossilizing as I type...:(

Hey Ben,

This one goes back a ways too. Made a lamp out of it. Sits on my Grandmothers Secretary drop leaf desk (i'm 72) It is OLD. It was originally black, my Mother painted it.
