Hi All,
I am about ready to pick up my first AR. I've decided on an M&P 15 that is on sale at Cabela's starting today. It appears to be the "OR" model, but with the Magpul stock, foreend, grip and magazines. It has no sights. I was wondering if the Magpul polymer backup sights would work on this model - specifically for the front? I think I read somewhere that the front could get too hot and melt the polymer?

Thanks

No polymer sights on a railed gas block. You will need to get a metal front flip sight, there are many good options out there. As I recall the OR is same plane, so make sure you get an appropriate set of sights.

I bought the Magpul flip up sights for my M&P15 piston gun. The front sight did get extremely hot after running a few mags through the gun, but it seemed to be no worse for wear. Rather than worry about the front sight failing at some point I decided to go with a metal sight and decided on the Midwest Industries sight. It works with my Magpul rear sight and they both co-witness with my EOTech XPS2.

Thanks Lee,
I like the look of those. I was thinking about going with the Troy folding sights, but these are a bit easier on the wallet. Every time I've priced something at Midway though, by the time they added sales tax and shipping, it was always less expensive somewhere else.
