Sadly, most people have to do a lot of "This is not" in order to enjoy a little bit of "This is".

Life is in eternity . . . this stint is just preparation (or not) for that. 
I'm glad you enjoy the country, but it's not for us. We don't mind visiting the country but it's always good to get back home. 
Our bank and Dunkin Donuts are walking distance, half a mile. The grocery store, three quarters of a mile. A major hospital, one mile. A beautiful State Park in the middle of the desert, 3 miles. Most of our doctor and lab testing facilities, 10-15 minutes. Excellent buffets, 20 minutes. World famous restaurants, 30 minutes. Seeing a concert with Rod Stewart or John Fogerty, 30 minutes. If we want mild weather during the winter we stay home. If we want snow, wind, and a ski camp, a half hour drive to the mountains.

Life is at it's best when lived to it's fullest. Learn all that is needed, contribute what you can, don't mess up other people's live's. Be happy, content and above all, learn who you are. Most importantly, cherish life's good friends. They're the treasures.

Life is the gift of a temporary existence in the endless unfolding of the universe. Trying to calculate the odds of any one specific person ever being born is scary. Just be glad you made it.
You know, there is a middle ground between the two extremes in that meme.
I love to visit New York City...but I would never live there.
And I love to visit my friend who lives in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia...but I would never live there either.
I live in a town of 10,000 in northeastern Maryland. I have all the conveniences of city life, with few of the headaches. People are neighborly and polite, there's little-to-no violent crime (hasn't been a homicide in many years), and it's clean and quiet most of the time. I've lived here half my life, and I love it...
That's just one of the reasons we left the big city and moved to a small West Virginia mountain town.

People get a good laugh when I tell them I retired on December 31, 2015 at 3:30 PM. I was literally looking at my watch when I turned the ignition key to leave the office for the last time. I wanted to savor the moment.

life is a commodity of high value that isn't appreciated until it is threatened to be eliminated from your account.. and no one knows the balance in the account.. enjoy the day you have.. the ones behind matter not and the ones in front are not guaranteed...

Hmmm...it's always been interesting to me that as various human cultures and civilizations evolved over the centuries, people all around the world, who didn't know that other humans existed on other continents, all had two things in common:
1. They created art and made music with whatever local implements they could find or fashion.
2. They believed in something greater than themselves...they "worshipped" something.
It's almost as if we're pre-wired to understand that we're not the highest power in the universe...
