Poor 357 magnum

There is something very "off" with the sideplate fit. Like the frame got twisted or, that gun was in a fire.

More happened to that gun than laying in an attic. The serial number missing thingy should kind of bother you a little.

I say this is a legit S&W model, because the the barrel markings. Serial number might well be in the yoke cut as well as the butt. Like to know the model number. L frame?

Congrats on the restoration so far great work. And really when was the last time they had a serial number inspection at the range??? Just Mumms the word. I would at this time announce "Oh yea after looking harder there it was a serial number, which I wont print for fear some one may use my number for a stolen gun report". All this is of course an exercise in theory only. Uh huh yep that's my story.

Looks a bit like the compeditor barell i know it cant be but just looks like it
Sure is beautiful though regardless of cond

An aftermarket barrel would not be marked "S&W 357 Magnum". That propritary marking is only on genuine S&W barrels. It might even be a PC gun. A shame what happened to it.

Guys,
The OP is not in the USA, so our laws don't apply.

Possession of a gun with an altered/obliterated serial number is a Federal felony here and I wouldn't have anything to do with one. I don't know what the laws are in the OP's country, but we can assume he has looked into it and is comfortable posting it on the internet.

686 Power Port?

Just a chance this is it... 6" ported barrel... Nope, flat sided barrel is wrong.

686 Hunter... Was available with this barrel configuration including Magnaported. Rib has scope mounts machined in which would account for missing front sight. Also a PC version.
