I hope the forum owners are making a lot of money on the thump thump and pop ups with flashing arrows that are difficult to x out because they are making the forum almost unreadable. To give them the benefit of the doubt maybe they can’t stop them.

Contributing will help. But you also need to clear your browser of temp files and cookies.

For the princely sum of $30, you get one year of ad free goodness. You also get some other perks and those can be increased with higher level donations. No ads alone is worth it to me. For $30 in savings somewhere else, skip the next Hollywood blockbuster sequel/remake and Watch Rio Bravo at home. Or To Kill a Mockingbird, Saving Private Ryan or most any Mel Brooks film. They're all gonna be better than what's on the big screen. And popcorn doesn't cost you $10.

Just lately the advertisers have got very good at sneaking their wares onto the forum pages regardless of membership status. A fight with the ads with sound has been going on for a few weeks, and I see little indication on the "Office" forum that it has been fixed.

As others say, even joining at the lowest level really helps :D

You can fix that by financially supporting the Forum with a donation.

You don't get the pop-ups when you donate at the lowest level.

Somebody or something has to pay for the Forum. Things aren't free to run.

And you get the extra benefit of speedier operations in the
Forum since it doesn't have to load the ads.

A man is found in the dunes, sun baking him and thirsting to death. He is lead to a small tent, where a woman offers him some water. The thirsting man asks in an unlikeable tone, " You don't have any ice?"
She replies, "You want rice?"
He stomps outside the tent. In a few minutes of desert sun, he turns around to try it again. He finds himself alone, no shade or water, with the tent and woman's kindness all gone.
A voice in his mind asks, "Did you thank the woman for the shade and the water?"

But YOU can stop them.

We have a subforum called:

FORUM OFFICE
This Area is For Any Complaints, Suggestions or Questions That You Might Have about forum operations.

If you had looked there, you would have seen:
Ads with audio???
posted by s&wchad 05-09-2024

and in that thread you would have seen:
The ad man says:
Hi Lee – if Chad or anyone else sees the ad with audio (or any other problematic ad) it would be helpful if they can click the ad and copy and paste the landing page URL, that should make it easier for us to track it down. Thanks!
PLEASE do that-
click the ad and copy and paste the URL address of that ad in this thread.

PLEASE do that-
click the ad and copy and paste the URL address of that ad in this thread OR The Office thread- Ads with audio???

Just complaining about them does nothing. We need the URL to stop them. ;)

DONORS should see NO ads except for the leaderboard ad which is here:

If you are a donor and see ANY other ads, PLEASE let us know and give us the URL.
