Possible Break-in

So today I was outside and noticed my backdoor was open slightly, went into the laundry room and the door was slightly open, went back outside and the door had been pryed open and dirty finger marks all over the door knob and boor frame. I caled the PD and theres nothing they can do, so I have installed a couple new cams outside, and thank goodness I sleep with one eye open and a loaded gun next to my head.

Couldn't lift any prints off off those 'dirty finger marks'? Sounds to me as if they aren't 'listening' to you... Hope they took a full report (get a copy) at least to establish a time line incase you have to pop a bad guy in your laundry room...

They took prints and they are to old and not good enough to work and the door has been barred shut for weeks so no telling how long its been, but by the looks from what I was told its been about 2 weeks and we have an alarm but that door is the other back door we dont use. Its the laundry room door and our back door is across from it, but my kids sleep on the other side of the house and that door is about 30 feet from my room so no worries. I am not worried the druggies in the neighborhood are all in jail now. Better safe than sorry, we put two new looks on the door to, just to be safe

Also in some areas a documented report helps protect you in case a problem arises in the future.Like a future break in while at home with the family and have to ventilate them.

Even if prints were too smudged to be readable, we've gone to collecting "touch DNA" on scenes here. If the finger smudges were still there, I'm betting the bad guy's DNA was also. Takes about 5 minutes to collect it.

Here our local LEO wont do finger prints unless its a murder or a very large $$$$$ robbery/burglery. We even had our shop truck stolen and found ran off in a small pond up to the bottom of the doors. We got the truck back and asked the police if they got any fingerprints and they said we watch to much TV???? They dont like to do much but hand out seat belt tickets when they get to bored.

Druggies don't stay in jail forever. I just learned that there were 38 daytime break in's in my little podunk county in the last 3 months. Last fall an 80 year old woman was killed by an intruder not too far away. In each of these cases the dopers were looking for prescription drugs and knew that the household had them.

Might be a good idea to put up a couple of well shot B-27 targets in the window.

Talked to the land lord and our rental agreement is up next month, so my fam and I will be buying a house next week hopefully if the papers are finished.

I spent more than 33 years in law enforcement. Chiefs and Sherfiffs are politicians first - they do not like to have their statistics show too many unsolved crimes, so they do their best to keep from taking official reports on things like you described.

Thats a wonderful solution. Best wishes in your new residence. I'm betting you have the family to make that house a real home. With your own home you can add whatever security options you feel appropriate.

My family comes first, and I may only be 27 but they are the ,ost important thing, and Ive been looking at a couple houses this just speeds up the process, no tto mention gives me a reason to let the puppies stay in the house

I also don't "Rack" my M870 for a warning. "The Warning" will be the muzzle flash.
