Possible forcing cone issue on new 686?

The circular rings on the barrel breach face is odd but I don't see it causing a problem. If the FC itself is of the proper size & cut I wouldn't be concerned.
My 686-6 TALO had a sharp transition from the FC to the rifling. I rechamfered it to smooth it out. Your's looks pretty good from what I can see.
If it shoots okay don't let it bother you.

I agree with these guys...looks to be a rough machined surface,nothing to be concerned with.

Rough lathe facing cut.

I've seen those "circular growth rings" on new revolvers . It's the tool they use. And it's ok.

I would not worry about it, unless the gap is incorrect, or your accuracy is terrible. It just looks like an example of not the best machine work I have seen.
Pull the trigger on some paper, and give us a follow up perhaps?

Just got a 686+ PC and my forcing cone is smooth no circular marks on it and gap comes in at .0035 to 004 on all the cylinders ..
And is not as rough looking as Bluedot37's picture of his Talo ..

I've seen PC guns with smooth, rough and circular.
As long as the gap is even and within tolerance- there should be no worry.
I dug up a current pic of my 627PC. It had "circular " rings, but after 10,000 rounds, shows some wear and tear.
Its gap is a .005".

... would probably be a lot better than trying to mess with it. I doubt you could gain accuracy by polishing (or other). It's the other end that adds accuracy if it's smooth.

Looks to me as though it's just sloppy machining - however I would try and keep Lead & crud from collecting in the groves after shooting the Revolver. Unfortunately, the grooves can not be removed without affecting the Barrel Cylinder Gap so if the revolver is otherwise perfect, just keep it clean.
