I just got this response to an ad on Craigslist, and something just doesn't smell right. Any similar experiences or opinions?

Thank for your mail. Am satisfied with your advert price, as are questing this transaction should be done via PayPal so the PayPal charges is on me. Get back to me with your PayPal email and your name or send me PayPal invoice so i can pay you right away as soon as i conclude with my shipper, For more inquiry or information contact my shipper (carrier) on 561-767-4742. I am always busy at work and do not have much time around me to make or answer calls. Make sure you get back to me so that we can arrange for pick up as i will like the item to be picked at your residence location. Confirm the sales to me by removing it from the CL post and i will like more pics.

"No one talks like that. Scam!"

I agree it is a scam, but the syntax is clearly someone who is not a native English speaker. It is common to find that in bogus emails sent from outside the U.S. If you contact them, they will probably "accidentally" send a certified check for more than the advertised price, then want to you wire them a refund (before you find out it is a bum check in the first place).

Definite scam. They probably have just put it in big letters in the subject line!!!

It doesn't even mention the particular item they're interested in. Not only is it a scam they didn't even read your ad. I get similar ones all the time.

I like to be buying item any you sell.
I need bank account number for to be sending money you ASAP. Will send all funds much money.
Click here to send important data so to be paying you is fast with the much money.
Very much thanking you,
Honest Abe

This scam is extremely common on Craigslist and one reason I don't use it anymore. Try to sell something and 95-100% of the replies, it seems, are either scam or spam.

As I recall there is a section on Craigslist warning users of this very scam and others commonly used there.

Craigslist Scam

Thanks for all the help, guys. I've never used Craigslist before, so I wasn't aware of this common scam. But using a little common sense, it certainly didn't sound right. Lesson learned.

this is all you need to do......................

I am receiving order cancellation notices (a bunch) from Amazon. That's strange because I opened an account there but never supplied payment method info, and have never ordered anything.
