Possible Unicorn model 14-3 357 1972

Correct and that is exactly what one does with rod and pin. Model 53 22 Jets use the same length cylinder as the model 19 357s. In order to fit this 4" shrouded Jet barrel to my model 18 I had to take off enough material to turn the barrel in another 4 turns and have the front sight come up dead center on top, then trim rod and center pin on both the original 22lr cylinder and the extra 22 mag cylinder I fit to it.

While I would fit a model 19 barrel to a model 14 or 15 frame with a factory 38 cylinder I would not ream a 38 cylinder to 357. Simply does not make sense now days. There are lots of K frame 357 cylinders available. Even if I wanted to keep the original 38 barrel, I would fit the 357 cylinder by shortening the 38 barrel shank enough for the 357 cylinder to clear with a proper gap and cut a nice new forcing cone

I just noticed in a recent auction a 14-3 with a 357 barrel and cylinder. The letter stated that the installation of those parts was an oversite by S&W and it was recommended the gun be returned to the factory. I would have kept it the way it was and apparently the owner did just that.
