Does anyone have any experience with this part? I have a 617, while a fine shooter, this gun has a bit of slop in the cylinder notches when locked up. I installed one of these oversized stops with great results. This part was about .004 wider in the ball than my factory part. Just a little bit of stoning and polishing with Crocus cloth was required. The cylinder now locks up SOLID! with perfect timing on all chambers. No stoning to the top of the stop body was necessary or to the bevel. This was essentially a drop in part, aside from mating the width of the ball to the cylinder notches. If you have a Smith revolver that has a bit of "rotational wiggle" of the cylinder when cocked, you ought to be thinking about this part.
Oh yea!...........I did mention great results. This gun has always shot its best groups with Std. velocity ammo. I put 6 shots off a rest into 2" at 50 yds. I know........so what!........Thing is 3 shots were in the same hole. I'm using a Tasco Pro-Class 2X scope that has a 2 minute dot that floats inside a tapered cross hair. The dot essentially covers up the 1" square at 50 yds. Did I mention that I'm no real ace shooting a pistol off the bags. That said, I do have access to a Ransom rest that has K-frame square butt inserts...............Stay tuned!
Bottom line............This part will enhance accuracy in your revolver, and is easy to fit if you have basic gunsmithing knowledge of the S&W revolver. Kudos to Ron Power and his staff for taking the time to develop this product!
