Finally got all my project done at the new place ( 2 years)so it looks like I may get to start trying to shoot some bullseye . I got out my 2 Springfield Customs that I had built in 2008 and have never fired. I was going over the HB gun and even though the group on the test target was about 1.5 , I really would rather shoot a 9mm. I had seen a Sams M9 for sale on the Bullseye forum but I hated to spend the money since I have so many 9s , PPC models and SP Custom 1911s from shooting PPC.
So I decide to do something really out of the ordinary, I LOOKED AT THE RULES!!!!, Seems that they changed a bunch of Service Pistol rules on March 1st 2019, and made a bunch of additional pistols and parts approved for the Service gun matches.
Along with 1911s in 9mm, the S/W PPC9 was also added, ( and a bunch of others) all pistols must have barrel of 5.4 or less , no bull barrels.
I thought this was great since most PPC shooters just shoot their 6" guns in the open and Distinguished matches, since they changed that rule. It made our 5 inch guns kinda worthless in our discipline. If it had Aristocrat sights it cant be used for anything else as far as stock auto type matches.
Thought this might be of interest and couldn't find another thread on it .
Added some photos, will probably try shooting the Dist Auto 9mm I had made the year they changed the rule to allow 6" guns. It has hardly been used, only as a backup. Take care Bob
Of course competitors that already have their Distinguished Badge will grump about the change being cheezy . JUST like we did when the NRA started allowing the 6" bull barreled guns in Police Distinguished, we all screamed and stomped, but it did get more people to shoot.
