I couldn't let this 1957 4-screw pre model 19 get by me yesterday so it now resides in my safe. I would guess the condition at about 95% with what appears to be the original non-relieved smooth target stocks still in place. There was however no box available which brings me to my question. Can someone tell me what the box for this revolver might have looked like, or perhaps even show a picture of one. I was thinking a blue two piece, with solid stripe?
Serial number K316XXX
Thanks...and please excuse the lousy picture.

Your pre-Model 19 is a real prize. Congrats.

You are correct...a two piece blue box with the solid silver border on the top and Combat Magnum printed on one end.

victor937,
Now that's a wonderful .357 Congratulations. I just love the deep blue finish. (the grips too)

Enjoy your gun.

Did you get that at the Dayton gunshow yesterday? Cause I was there yesterday afternoon & if I saw it first, it woulda come home with me...guess I was too late. I did pick up a 5" 625 model of 1988; nothing picture worthy... sigh.

Really nice, love the grips. Are you going to letter it? Here's a shot of the box mine came in. I have two and the boxes are identical. They are longer and narrower than the later boxes, 12 1/4 L X 4 1/2 W. I don't have a picture of the other end, but it has S&W in silver, 1/2" H x 1 3/4" L.

Hope they help.

Bill and oneoleone...Thank you for the info and the pictures of the box. I will now begin my search.

44wheelman...Yes, it was the Dayton show. I purchased it yesterday morning so it was likely prior to you getting there. It was under a glass display case on a table in a low traffic area of the show. I was very surprised it was still there especially at the price that was on it.
