I think it’s time too.
I only started collecting in January and I had no idea how obsessive the hobby can get. Basically wanting whatever you don’t have.., and then nicer ones of what you do have, but I have time to learn what I need and don’t need.
It’s nice to have got to 52 years old and discover something, or in my case, rediscover a seed planted decades ago that inspires me and makes me want to learn.
It’s like being an excited kid again.

Frank44Mag - If Wayne were still with us, I am sure he would insist you join the Collector's Association! Wayne hosted an annual meeting and shooting at Pasa was the highlight of the weekend! Wayne's 629 collection was really special. Seeing his name has brough back many great memories of collectors who are now gone!

After I made the post, it allowed me to open that attachment. I did not see the picture before but correct me if I’m wrong that’s a five screw.

Hmm, good point. It is a four screw gun, because when S&W reintroduced a fourth screw to the N frame they did it in the opposite order that they deleted them...ergo they added the sideplate screw instead of the one in front of the trigger guard.
So these models are also the only 4 screws that have a side plate screw instead of the trigger guard screw.

It's goofy for sure. It's not in the same category as the beautiful vintage guns shown here but I like the weird ones

I need to renew my membership and I also have a lot of great memories of Wayne. I have his personal safe and a large part of his Smith collection and pretty much all his memorabilia from over the years. Wayne was fun to be around And he was one of the most knowledgeable people about Smith & Wesson magnum Revolvers that you could find.

Great collection.
I am very tempted to join the SWCA.. BUT… I would feel a little like an imposter of sorts until I own either a registered Magnum or a pre 29 with Cokes, or anything with cokes.
I’m just getting started.
I’d love to see some of those drool worth collections, though.
I’ll get there.

Beautiful! I think the 5" bbl is the perfect size for an N frame. I'd love to find a 27 or 28 with the 5".

I only have two M29's both -2's. A 6.5 inch nickel I bought new when I got out of the service in 74. I still have the wood display case and accessories.Due to an error by the store (Montgomery Wards) I have $175 in it. The second is a blued 4 inch, no box, no paperwork just the gun.

As far as joining this fine organization let me tell you how I got here. My Grandfather had a S&W Military & Police M1905. My parents gave it to me for Christmas after I graduated college. The gun sat in the safe for decades. Several years ago I went about reacquiring some of the guns I sold off in my misspent youth and started shooting handguns again. A friend loaded up some 38 special wadcutters so I could shoot grandpas gun. After a few rounds a squib load lodged in the barrel and I didn't catch it. The next round bulged and split the barrel. I was devastated.
I was led to this sight through another forum I didn't even know there was a S&W collectors group. An inquiry as to what to do or where to go provided several options. Remember this was my FIRST post ever. A member stepped up and said he had the exact barrel I needed. He sent it to me and if it worked I could pay him if not I'd return it. It was perfect and his price was more than reasonable. Grandpa's gun is now back in service and I will always be grateful to the people here especially Weatherby for making it happen.
You don't need a collection to be a member just a fond appreciation for S&W guns.
