Pre 29

Thanks Stu - maybe someone could now put a value on this weapon. Much appreciated cap

Also, you do not have the correct grips/stocks --referred to as "Cokes"-- which are worth about $400 in themselves. IMHO, this is an $800 to $100 gun depending on the value of the scope.

If it had the original Coke target stocks, that would redeem its value considerably. And that is not a premium-quality scope. Value is what someone would pay for it as a shooter, not as a collectible. The seller should list it on GunBroker. Best to let someone else buy it. If you want a .44 shooter, you can get a later original-condition M29 for a lot less than $2K with no baggage.

Scope appears to be a late 60's bushnell, about 1.5 power.

From the time that scope was made and installed the pre-29 was just another revolver and nothing special. Don't bring todays value judgements into the past. That's called revisionist history and it doesn't work.

You are right stu1ritter,. Back in the 1970's a scoped handgun was all the rage and worked very well for hunting.
I've got an early 29-2 that I had fitted with a scope back then. The drilled mounts were all we had offered.
The rear sight is going to be a bit expensive if you want to put it back to original, and the holes will always be there so I'd go about $700 for the gun. The scope itself has very little value in todays market. Good luck.

Amen to that!

Besides, how do we know if that .44 Mag hasn't accounted for more deer than all our guns put together?
