I finally got some .38 Special target ammo in, and was able to take that old S&W out to the range to see how she does. I'm impressed to say the least. I'm not usually as accurate with fixed sight guns. But this one seems to be well regulated to the sights with 158 gr LRN. The only problem I see with this gun is that in DA the grips DO NOT fit my hands at all. I have a extra set of target grips here that I might try out. That means I'll have to take off the lanyard ring, but that only means pulling one pin. So no harm to the gun.

Any way the trigger pull in SA is great. You can tell this gun was made for battle as it's a wee bit stiffer than I'm used too. In DA there is a little bit of stacking, but at pull em up and shoot distances, it's nothing to worry about.

Well these are the two targets I put up.

This is 18 rounds SA slow fire, free hand, 10 yards.

6 Rounds, DA, 10 yards fairly rapid fire.

Good shooting! An alternative to target grips would be to try adding a Tyler T Grip. This would allow you to keep the same overall appearance of the gun including the lanyard ring.

Good Luck,

Jerry

One of my guns is WW2 Victory like your in .38 spl. If somebody said I had to go to a shooting contest and could only take one gun, I would pick that Victory. Never belived a fixed sight gun could be that accurate.

That's what I thought too Peter J., I would really like shooting that old Victory in a IDPA match some time.
