Anyone have an estimate how much a Model 10-9 3" Turkish Police should run? It's marked "T.C. Polis", has the correct white bar / 2 white dot sights, diamond grip, and looks to be in very good condition. No box.
Seller was asking $700... is that too high?

Thanks!

I cannot help with the value of the gun you are referring but I will show a model 10-5 three inch sold earlier online. Lots sold at 299.00 with free shipping with no police markings. Condition is everything. These had rock solid lockup and no end shake.
Hope this helps a little.

White bar and two white dots. Does any one have a picture of a shooters point of view of this set up? Must look like a hipower mark III front and novak style rear.

Somebody is making the assumption that because it has the Turkish police provenance it has extra value. That's not always the case. Especially if they bought a lot of them from S&W. I recently bought a Model 10 4" HB in the rare .357 Magnum caliber and didn't pay 600 dollars so that gives you a hint of value while not being directly on point.

Like many others here on the Forum, I'm a huge fan of the 3.0 inch barreled K-frames. Better still, it has, I assume, the stamps and markings of the Turkish Police on it which makes it unique. That being said, I think the piece is over-priced. In good to excellent condition, I think the piece should go maybe $350.00 - $375.00 tops.

Best of luck,

Dave

Well, I tried negotiating with the seller, but frankly, he was obnoxious. I would make him an offer, and instead of countering it, would just ask questions like "Well, if you did find this gun for sale in like new condition, how much would you pay for it?" and then he said he would take a Glock in trade... so I asked which Glock model he was looking for, and he said he was open to any model, so I offered him a Glock 23, and he said he already had one. He then said that since he was willing to take a Glock, I should have an idea of how much cash he would accept for the S&W, so I offered him $475 (since Glocks here go for about $450), and he said I was way off... finally settled on $600, which he accepted, then while trying to set up a time to meet he decided to keep the gun. I've seen him trying to sell it for MONTHS on the local gun trading website... and I met him in person at the last gun show, walking around trying to sell the S&W. Ugh.

Unless your ancestors came from Turkey, or you have some other connection, I don't see why it would have any special value. Police marked and foreign marked S&W's are very common.

These were part of an production "over run" and never actually went to Turkey. The Turkish issued ones haven't come back to the states. This doesn't take away from the fact that this is a nice gun in an interesting configuration. So, it just depends on what your collecting interest is......
