Looking at a 4" 66 no dash with box and papers in excellent condition with stainless sights at lgs, asking $700 is this a fair price?

I think 600 is the outside of what I would pay. Although I have seen them for that much. I dont know how long they have been sitting there for that.

The 66 no dash models with stainless sights are becoming hard to find and somewhat a favorite for collectors. I would think that it would bring a slight premium over a non-SS sighted version. However, I believe $700 is a bit high. But like anything collectable, it all depends on how bad you want it! Go in with $600 cash in hand and see if they will deal. Good luck!!

I found one the other day that was in had some dings & scratches, but the action felt pretty new. It was priced at $450, no accessories in sight. It was a shiny stainless.

Is the stainless polished on the one you are looking at?

66 No dash 4"

Jim ............ as a general rule of thumb, gun stores pay roughly 1/2 of the marked resale price, so I agree totally w/ MacA ..... go in with $600. cash, then make an offer for $500. cash and negotiate from there. You never know what you can buy it for unless you negotiate the price. Also, value depends on each individual and the guns level of desirability to them. Either way, it's not extremely over priced at $700.00 w/ original box & papers. Good luck!

Jim, I just picked up one as you describe at a show last month for $575.00, shipped to my FFL. He was asking $600.00 at the show.

I think Im going to pass on this one this shop does'nt haggle, besides Im really looking for the same gun in the 2 1/2",

Jim ......... in my opinion, the 2.5" 66 is a desirable little snubby.

I found what I thought was a 2.5" at my LGS last week. I was between appts and had some time to kill and couldn't think of a better place to spend it. In the used gun case was a mint 66-2 w/ box, papers and tools. It was being sold by the gun store owners son, and after coming to terms on the purchase, it was put on hold for me for a few days and when I returned to start the paperwork I looked at the attached ticket for the first time and it was noted as a 3". I'll be picking it up on Saturday 3/14. Talk about DUMB LUCK! I'm seriously thinking of dressing her up with a set of custom Ivory grips from Paul Persinger. I guess we all get lucky sometimes!
