Seeing a lot of five dollar a gallon gas prices. Grocery prices are no different.
I have a decent retirement income and can, for now, handle the increases. Groceries that, a few weeks ago were three bucks are on their way to five. I am changing my shopping habits(like buying store brands, considering whether I really need something or just want it, all that kind of stuff) and will probably make more changes.
My grandson and great grandson both are classic car owners and a show in a town about eighty miles away was a annual trip for them. My great grandson has two, a car and a pickup. The car is a Buick Road Master that is like new but gulps the high octane gas and that is what he wanted to take.
They always got in on Friday and like the other people did a lot of cruising showing off their cars. They did a little figuring, counting gas, motel and meals making the weekend cost between four and five hundred bucks. They decided to just do the local shows this year and hope that costs go down before next year.
This is getting tough for people with low incomes.

Though I get a milage per diem using my F-150 for work, I'm feeling the pain with these gas prices, I average 140 miles a day. It will come to a tipping point if gas continues to rise.

Difficult times, especially for those who were already living on the edge.

Those of us in our retirement years have seen similar events several times, and the resilience of the American economy has always provided a correction within a few years.

We will see if that pattern repeats itself.

Lots of hidden inflation as my mother called it, "shrinkflation" is the current term. I stopped buying Dannon yogurt when their cup went from 8 to 6 ounces, then the other makers, store brands followed suit, now Dannon is only 5.3 ounces. One beverage advertising its new easier to hold bottle-which holds 28 ounces instead of 32.
It's across the board, a container of CVS store brand caffeine tablets has gone from 80 to 60, I looked at Tidy Bowl toilet tablets-they have gone from 1.7 to 1.4 ounces.
I joke that California will deal with its water problems by reducing a quart from 32 to 28 ounces, they'll save 1 pint with every gallon.

Consider yourself fortunate with the exception of a few small size jars of natural there is no peanut butter on store shelves locally for 3 weeks now! This will not change or stop until history repeats itself. (kinda like 12/26/91 when that other country collapsed.)
Local Shure Save flyer.

Peter Pan peanut butter, has been "on sale" 2 for $4 for a while.

It's now 2 for $6!

50% increase.

Costco has plenty of PB. Friday, bought a 2-pack of Skippy Creamy 3lb jars for $10.49.

Easy to tell I'm single. Yeah my little freezer is in need of defrosting too. Don't know if I could afford not to be single in these times. Would for sure put a hurt on my gun fund.
