I happened to stop in at one of my favorite local gun emporiums today and they had some primers on the shelf (in a locked gun display case.) They ran from $150 per thousand to$190 per thousand. They sold some while I was looking at a very nice Chief Special. They didn't sell any to me, not at that price.

Your local shop is buying retail primers and marking them up. It's legal, but it's shady (just like buying ammo at an online retailer or at Walmart to resell) One of my local shops does that, and their $20 trays are fortunately collecting dust.

That's why everything has gone up during the post pandemic getting back to 'abby' normal. When the airlines figured they could charge for anything and everything and people would live with it. Now everyone is marking up what they sell and blaming it on somebody else. America, home of the greedy.

In a Bass Pro today, pallet with about a literal ton of ammo in isle, no stock person around. Looked on ammo shelf and there were 2 1000 boxes of lg pistol primers. Picked 1 up and went to counter, ask guy behind counter where the sm. pistol primers were? Said they didn't have any, asked about lg. pistol primers and he asked, " Where did you get them"? Told him right off ammo shelf, he about had a hissy fit, asked me to bring them to counter. Locked them up. So wonder what happened to stock person? LOL

My local has some Ginex in stock at 80 per K, best I've gotten ina while I'm going to stop in and probably get a few thousand to test out and some powders...

Anybody have experience with Ginex?

Here in my town, I found some on the shelf for the first time since this all started. $20 a sleeve for LR. $25 a sleeve for LP and SP.

I've used a thousand or so GINEX small pistol primers. Only thing to note is that they seem a little large in one way or another. They seem to take a little more attention and oomph to seat properly. I've heard similar stories from the local range which reloads their range fodder. Definitely useable though.

All of mine have gone bang with no problem. Hardness is probably about like CCI in my unscientific opinion.

There's a small shop a few miles south of me that has SPP and LPP but like the shop near you they want $25/100 and $50/lb for powder. Their used guns are crazy high too. Granted they're in very nice shape but for a nickel Detective Special 3rd gen he's asking $1,650 and $1,550 for a very clean nickel model 37. I figure he's asking double or a bit more what his guns are worth. I go in about every 6 months to see if he's reduced his prices but he hasn't and the same guns are sitting in his cases.

Everyone LOVES capitalism until it starts to effect THEM....

You got this all wrong. He had a hissy fit because he didn't know they had any and he was mad you found it before he did. He wanted it for himself or his friend.

Think he is dept. manager, older guy that knows. Rest of " helpers" have no clue, had to point to cans of powder just to look at them and get prices.
