Prison Gangs.

jdh, in Illinois deadly force may be used to stop a riot.

If you want the most well balanced look at what goes on in a real prison without working in one or being locked up, read Pete Early's book, the Hot House, it is an incredibly well written look inside a violent maximum security prison.

Indiscriminate deadly force on unarmed inmates engaged in passive disobedience? Or at specific individuals within the riot committing acts of violence?

May I suggest you reread the last line of post 19 in this thread.

It is justified use of deadly force to stop inmates from rioting. Yes, it is not used unless there is a threat to life in most cases, but it is still quite legal.

My background is 25 years NJDOC, firearms instructor, use of force / baton / chemical agent instructor and several years on Special Operations Group.

To be clear, no inmates run the prisons in New Jersey.

20 years FBOP. Firearms instructor, Institution Sniper, Disturbance Control team, Ect., so on and so forth.

Sorry but if you believe that you are delusional. It may appear We run it and we do because THEY let us. Same as when you walk out the gate to go home at the end of shift.

Same here. We are authorized to use deadly force if necessary? We are also authorized to shoot any hostages IF--the hostage taker tries to do themmore harm? and or to use them as a way out of the walls? The last part may have hanged since I left service:? But I doubt it.

Ditto here in Texas--no inmates run anything--except on occasion-their big loud mouths.

Sorry, not here. WE run the farm--they run--nothing and they know that we can use deadly force. I was working 4 picket (on of many times) which is where they are actually allowed to leave the farm unescourted--but under the watch of me--the guy with an AR-15, a .357 and a Winchester. I was carrying the AR and .357 at this time--and mostly always except when I felt like carrying the Winchester. Anyway, one inmate of about 5--were dumping kitchen trash and one opened his big mouth asking if I would shoot him if he ran?

All I did was to chamber a round in the AR--and his grin went from a "happy grin" to one of OH #$&^ Never had another try that on me again.

So--it isnt delusional to say that we--dont run the farm.

I have seen news stories covering in-state transfers of prisoners to break up gangs. One Fed with familiarity with the USBOP said they do that a lot.

Farm? I thought we were talking about a real prison not convict day care.

Lovelock Nevada has O J Simpson staying at the "Gray Hotel".

My brother in law just retired as the head warden in Utah.......

My Dad's Father was a guard at the Carson City prison.........

Todays jail birds have it way too easy as compared to the old days and "the Rock" in SF............ but that is the way things are now.

and............

Most 75 year old folks across America will do better in prison with housing, food and med's than on the street across the USA the way things are, today !!

Got to tell this one: When I was in grade school about 1952 we had a field trip through the county courthouse and the jail in the basement. It was a small school in a small village where we all knew everyone. Had to feel sorry for one of the girls. Her dad was sitting in a cell glowering at us! Think it no doubt had something to do with his drinking hobby.

That tells me that jdh has no clue. Angola Prison was known as the Farm and inmates would always say, "The Farm " was the worst.

Now I know you don't. Search, I have made no attempt to hide my past. There is a clue for you in post 64 of this thread.

BTW, have you always been so humor challenged or are you just that full of yourself?
