Privatization of military

BLACKHAWKNJ "The problem with the Draft was that it provided the Army with quality enlisted men who were too often BETTER than their superiors-more intelligent said:
Was that tongue-in-cheek, or do ya really think that's a "problem"?

That is one of the major BENEFITS of the draft--expose educated, intelligent, mature, hard-working, honest citizens to performance of military duty, and you enrich both the military and the civilian components of society.

Another thing to consider is that most of these contractors are ex-military, with honorable discharges. They decide to get back in to the fight, and can make more money and better insurance in some cases.

I know a ton of them are ex-special forces guys, who most, if not all are 100% USA minded, and know when something is not right to do.

Don't get me wrong, there are those that go off the reservation, but that is a very small percent.

I like to quote the Official Report issued in 1971, which, in addressing the Army's serious moral problems stemming from the Vietnam conflict, especially the problem of drug and alcohol abuse, made the refreshing candid admission that:
"Most jobs in the Army require little or no intelligence."
The Army I served in 1967-1971 was basically a giant Detail force-guard duty, KP, groundskeeping, janitorial work, with some so-so training wedged in between. I have seen the argument that having intelligent, educated troops perform menial tasks "grinds away egos", in reality it convinced many of us that the Army is f
or morons and many of our NCOS-and officers-really didn't "know their stuff."
Again, "privatization" of the military-serous questions as to Chain of Command, discipline-valor awards-compensation for injuries or death. POW status ?

I think the draft should be reinstated for all young men.

I think it should be instituted for ALL young folks of BOTH genders; although I doubt the current crop of kids - who need safe spaces, hugging blankets, etc. would last 1 day in basic.

And if they don't go in the military, then they should do 4 years in Peace Corps or some other service organization, preferably in places like Haiti and Venezuela so they can what other countries go through when times are tough.
