The hammer nose on my 1975 15-3 broke but I found that Jack First Gun Parts makes these so promptly ordered & installed the new nose. Was sorely disappointed to find that the action wouldn't re-set (this pistol is DA only). When the hammer is manually moved back a fraction of an inch, all is well. Can anyone offer a solution from afar? Due to my work schedule, getting to a 'smith right now is difficult.

Thanks.

I always suspect the last area worked when a new problem pops up.

Make sure the rivet holding the nose is flush and not dragging.

Also, check that the nose is free to "wobble" slightly up and down.

Also, smoke the hammer nose and let it down all the way to check that the nose isn't dragging somewhere on the frame.

The advise that m1gunner gave is sound. The other thing I would do is check to see how it compares to the shape of the original one. You can piece the original back together and set it on top of the new one. Sometimes it doesn't take much of a difference for things to get fouled up. If it has a "high spot" you may need to contour it to match it to the original.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected something like what you posted but haven't had time to check.
