The cylinder release latch screw, (nut) was loose when I bought the gun (used). I got out my gun smith screw driver set and tightened it. Shot two full moon clips of 45 acp and while I had it out drooling over her yesterday afternoon, I noticed it was loose again. Called Smith and Wesson this morning and the lady told me I could back the screw (nut) out and place a very small amount of medium loctite on the scre (nut). First S&W I have ever owned that had screws loosen while shooting and yes I have owned several Model 57's and never had that problem. Is she correct?

Reb, since it is used, you don't know what has been done in the past. Try what was said and see if it works. Bob

The loktite blue should be fine. I had a 28-2 that would shoot the sideplate screws loose from time to time.

Back when

I was wet behind the ears, we used mom's fingernail polish to lock the errant screws.:) Degrease before using the loctite.

Guns vibrate when fired, and screws will loosen. Been going on forever, and checking your guns for loose screws is just part of the maintenance.
