Programming a 2018 Silverado key fob?

Greetings!

Might anyone here have experience programming a basic entry key fob for a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado? If so, is this a relatively easy task for the vehicle owner, or is this something that has to be done by the dealer?

Call your local locksmith. If they do automotive they can provide you the fob and programming. They can usually beat dealer pricing.

Check your vehicle owners manual for instructions. But most late model Chevy’s require special diagnostic equipment to program fobs.

I would recommend against buying a fob on the web. Some locksmiths and dealers will not program an aftermarket or third party fob because they sometimes don’t work. And returning them is a pain.
