Does anyone use a progressive press for reloading the 500???

The Lyman T-Mag II turret press that I use works great, but I was just curious if anyone used a progressive press to pump out large quantities...if so, what kind of quality are the loads that these put out?

Thanks for the info.

I've used a Lee Loadmaster to load my 500 S&Ws and also for my 45-70 Governments. I would usually accumulate around 800 or so do do the "mass loading" to save up on the setup time and for consistency. When loading say my 500 S&W, I would mix my powder (LilGun) by mixing the four pounds into a plastic mixing bowl and putting them back into the same container. I do this ESPECIALLY if from one container to the other has a different lot number. Then I do the same with my 45-70 Government (H4198).

The only thing to watch is to keep a watchful eye on the powder levels, loading these large shells consumes the powder pretty fast. On the Lee Loadmaster, since Lee does not make a case collator for the press, I hand feed each shell into the first station.

On my other smaller Lee, it is able to load my 500's but not for the 45-70 Government. The 45-70 is a longer with the bullet head and it has some difficulty cycling to the next station.

Have fun reloading.
