Just got an S&W M&P 15-22, and it functions perfectly with the factory long 10 round mag modified to 25 round, and the two factory 10 round mags.
Have four ProMags, and two Plinker Tacticals. Have tried one of each so far, both with multiple FTF on the first mag full. The Plinker worked perfectly with the second loading of 30 rounds
The ProMag had a couple FTF on the second magazine full. Realized that it was not locking in to the magazine catch, but was not always pushing the cartridges up with a nose up angle at all times either when manually cycling the magazine loading button. Another Promag locks in perfectly, but have not shot it yet.
Any hints or helpful info on making these work?

not real sure about the promags. I finally took a plinkertactical out today that I loaded a week ago. fired all 32 rounds with no ftf or fte. maybe a stiff spring issue?

I've used several Plinker Tactical magazines and found they are NO LESS reliable than S&W stock 25 round magazines.

What ammo (brand and model) are you using? I've found some ammos caused more FTFs and FTEs than others. Federal bulk pack has been so far my favorite (cheap and only couple of FTE in 1000's). I had some problems with Remmington and Winchesters, but they are still about 1 or 2 per 100 rounds or so. Finally, I had zero failure with CCI Minimag 40/36 grain ammos. Another issue is that there is a small play/wiggle when firing AR15-22 while holding the magazine or use a magazine to rest your gun (aka using a magazine as a mono/bipod substitute). My friend had more FTF/FTE when he was using his magazine as a monopod to stabilize his AR15-22 at the range. When he switched to bipod, his FTF/FTE was barely witnessed.

YMMV but loading rounds to the magazine also requires some patience. I load one round at a time and be sure its rim is snug/tight against backlip of the magazine for each round. In other words, avoid using a loading tool to press down the magazine follower all the way down to load multiple rounds.

I have only noticed issues with the Plinkster if I have the bolt forward, if I load the mag with the bolt pulled back, it seems to work fine.

It's always easier to insert a loaded magazine into a semi-auto (pistol or rifle) with the bolt or slide retracted. You are going to have to pull it back to load a round anyway. :)
