About two months ago I bought an item off of e-bay. Well it seems that they sold my e-mail address to the spammers. I checked my e-bay account and sure nuff there's a setting in there to prevent them from doing this. In my case, it was not on. I didn't even know it was there until I went looking for it.
Ever since then I've been receiving anywhere from 50 to 100 spam e-mails every single day!
My e-mail is personal and confidential information. Nobody has the right to just sell or share it without my permission.
This is a real PITA!. I've even taken the time to un-subscribe from each and every one. So far it hasn't even made a dent.
And what ever happened to the "Do Not Call List"? I get several phone calls a day from people wanting to buy my house, extend my car's warranty or sell some BS or other.
Enough! I just sent blistering e-mails to all my Congress Critters saying a law really needs to be passed to prevent this stuff. I'm here asking all of you to do the same. If we raise our voices loud enough maybe, just maybe, we can get something done about this mess.

By my count I have 128 emails from one politician running for senator in some other state besides mine. I keep unsubscribing but it doesn’t seem to do any good

unsubscribing just lets them know it's an active account. Clicking on a link from a suspicious site is a big mistake.

If your provider offers a way to block the senders email or move the email to a spam folder, do that instead.

The "Do Not Call List" has no teeth. You can report it to the FCC, but it's not worth your time IMO.

Oh, it gets caught and sent to the spam folder. But I still have to clean that out every day.

My point is that we, the people, need to speak up and have congress put an end to this. They won't even pay attention unless enough people speak up. :(

I have a secondary email account I use for online purchases. I only check it for confirmation receipts and tracking. And then only after I've made a purchase. It gets spammed while my regular email gets... less spam.

I saw a joke a few years ago. A guy was pondering an online purchase. He wasn't worried about the cost of the item. He was considering whether or not buying it was worth a lifetime of junk emails from the company selling the item.

Congress has way more important things to deal with than something that gets sent to your spam folder . . .

That’s Publishers Clearinghouse in a nutshell
