PSA-HOW TO EFFECTIVELY AVOID POISON IVY RASH

The old local Cajun remedy is to eat the Poison Ivy berries to become immune to it, I'm not trying it.
There is lots of it around here, I try to avoid it but wind up with small patches of the rash a few times a year.
I'll try the video suggestions.

I don't know the science behind it, but as a boy in the woods and working clearing woods and timber for land development for many years, none of the stuff ever bothered me. I could roll in poison ivy and laugh at others that got the rash. Seemed like I was immune to it.

However, once I hit about 50 years old, it will now eat me alive. I can't get anywhere near the stuff.

though I don't seem to get the poison ivy rash my wife does with little to no contact ..

to avoid the rash she takes "Poison Ivy Tincture Dilute Oral Solution" .. It is a prescription tincture .. you take 15 to 20 drops of it in a glass of cold water once a week .. she has found 18 drops is the rate for her ..

She has taken it now for over 7 years and has not gotten a rash since .. where before she would have spots of it almost the whole summer .. her doctor believed she would get it when in contact with our dog which runs our two acre country home ..

So ask your doctor to look it up and get a script for you if you suffer from the rash !! Not many pharmacy's make tinctures anymore so it might be hard to find ..

"Also, at all costs, avoid contact with the smoke from burning poison ivy, oak, or sumac. Campfires, brush cleanup fires, etc. etc. Worst case of poison ivy I ever had came from this. "

Don't forget oleander=can kill you if you breathe the smoke! Or, if you use it as a stick to roast hot dogs on. Also, giant hog weed!

the worst case of poison ivy/oak I have seen was when I had a ruptured appendix and was in the hospital a girl across the hall had stood in the smoke of a fire burning those vines and had it all over her body .. something like 45 % of it including her complete face including over her eyes was bandaged .. nurses said it was in her mouth and inside of her nose .. never did see what she looked like ..

the 10 days I was in the hospital I would go to her room and read and talk to her for a few hours each day .. don't know what ever happened to her .. she was in very bad shape.. was being fed with a tube and was on O2 ..

so stay out of smoke from a wood fire with any of the poison vines being burnt !!
