Puppy Found On Road

My wife and I were driving into town and noticed a young woman stopped by the side of the road. We stopped and found her with a small puppy about 6 mos. old. The puppy was shaking from fear of the cars driving by. I thought it may have been hit. The woman said she couldn't help it so I wrapped it in a blanket and took it to our Vet. The puppy started to calm down on the way and by the time we got there he was shaking only a little. I went in to the Vet and told them the situation and she came out to check the puppy. She did not find a chip and he does not have a collar. He also has not been hit. I told the Vet that I don't own the puppy but to go ahead and give it shots and check it out. We already own 2 dogs and now it looks like we own 3!!
My question is it looks like someone dumped this puppy off by the road. What kind of animal would do that to a dog? Why not take it to a shelter? I would love to meet the person that did this.

Personaly I wouldnt jump to conclusions so quick. Some toddler or young kid could have let the dog out. If so they are greiving. Things happen. I would take a picture of the pup and put it on a poster and tack a few signs on power poles and/or mailboxs with your phone # in that neighborhood.

I can relate. That's how we ended up with 7 dogs and 19 cats. Missus P&R Fan is a sucker for critters.
I guess that's how she ended up with me.

Good on you for helping the poor little guy out.
Like others have said, maybe he got out of the house and wandered away. I'd check the lost and founds in the newspaper and put up a few posters to see if someone did in fact lose the little guy.

I am hoping it is some ones pet but he has no collar and was scared to death. Also very hungry. We have contacted all of the humane society's and animal control but no one has lost him so far.

My beloved Moose, a middle-aged 15-pound rat terrier, has owned me for two years and change. His previous owners must have loved him, as they spent a ton of money to have his right hip rebuilt after he was terribly injured. But they moved away and left him. He adopted me from an animal rescue shelter. I can't fathom why he was abandoned, but it must have been some very serious crisis that forced them to do it.

I have to believe that so I don't hate. But the upshot is that I have a wonderful, happy, ridiculously loving little buddy.

I can't imagine someone just heartlessly dumping a dog, especially a pup. Unfortunately, several have been unloaded around the seniors' apartment complex where I live. They're invariably terrified and miserable. It hurts me to think about.

I'm glad your new pup is going to have a good, caring home.

I wonder what life would be without dogs...Strange a animal can connect with us so well..No question God in his wisdom gave man the dog. to teach love, humility and devotion. When I come across a person that dislikes dogs I wonder what horrible thing in their background happened...I have even seen hardened convicts go soft when given a companion dog to train...Some of the hardest convits even get more human and easy to control when given the responcibility of a dog to train as a service dog....When they turn over the dog to the person that needs it you can even see the pride in their otherwise hardened faces.;...don't make them angles but sure helps make them human..

I have no use for anyone that is mean to animals. I have taken in many over the years and each one of them paid me back. Thank you for the puppy. He/she will pay you back with love and devotion.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! A number of years ago while on the way to work in the pouring down rain I saw a van pull away from the shoulder of the road at a stop light. As I approached I could see there was a dog tied to the guard rail. I pulled over, got out and advanced on the dog, an Irish Setter, as I came closer, she put her paw over her eyes, a sign she had been abused- I put her in the truck, turned on the heater and wiped her down best as I could withe a blanket I kept therein. Stopped down the road, bought a couple bowels and some food. When I got home that night and walked in with her, the wife gave me one of those looks, and I said, she can go to the pound, but I couldn't leave her like she was found. It was Friday, so after the weekend, and a camping trip I ask my wife what she thought. She stays was the answer. About 7or 8 years later, Shannon passed away and I cried like a baby. She is with all the good dogs now.
