The first question would/should be, "why am I purchasing this revolver?"
Is it for shooting, collecting, wall hanging etc.?
Normally price and condition are factors. Many will say like real estate's, location, location, location, with firearms it is condition, condition, condition.
If collecting, the condition rule typically is paramount. As a shooter it can be less important but for most still important. Function is more of a concern. As a wall hanger, typically this does not apply.
Condition and rarity will have a bearing on price regardless of reason for buying.
Do you know the value range for the firearm being considered? Searching online sold auctions will usually give one a good idea of the market. No one wants to spend $600 on a $300 gun.
So that is the way that I look at gun purchases. I have bought many sight unseen (except photos) online with great success. Does the seller offer a return policy or is it a no return situation. I am always skeptical of "no return" policies. I understand the sellers concern that parts can be removed/replaced etc. before being returned but still makes me nervous.
Either way get lots of photos and ask all of your questions up front.
The comments and list above are excellent.
Good luck....
