Q: How to mount Venom on a 686?

I have a 686 4" that I decided should have a red dot sitting on top of it. I really like what I've heard about and read about the Venom.

I've started researching how to mount the Venom (parts, etc) to my 686. Can I get some ideas from some 686 owners who also have a Vortex on theirs how they mounted it, and how much they spent to do it?

It depends whether it is a 686-3 or lower. Those you would have drill and tap the top strap. 686-4 or newer, the factory has already done that. Then you need a mount like the Allchin.

You can buy a mount on the forum. I think he recently posted some. Pizza Bob has a good point. Check the classifieds thread.

Glad it doesn't need to be drilled! Its a 686-6

Another vote for the Raptor mount. I have them on 3 of my 629s.

This is a 686-6 10 round, with a Burris Fastfire mounted on the Raptor mount. There are two makers of very similar mounts, another advertises on our Classifieds, and might be just a little trimmer than the Raptor. Both are great mounts.
