i have a young friend who lives across the street from a house i own and use 2 weeks a year and he takes care of it for me the rest of the time. i wanted to buy him a Christmas present and asked his wife what he could use or wanted. couldn't get him to even say he wanted anything but she mentioned he's been wanting a belly band holster for off duty when wearing shorts. he's an active duty SWAT cop for a large police dept. that mandates they carry an off duty firearm.

i know nothing about them.... anybody reccomend which brand is the best? i thought ''belly band'' was a brand but see several companies seem to have their own version. he's 6'3'' and about 230 pounds of solidness with no gut just 6 pack abs(ah yes... those were the days.... :D i remember those days... was a LONG time ago though) i see they come in two sizes and i'm thinking he would need the larger size. i would imagine they fit various size waists being they're stretchy and have velcro. he wants to carry a medium frame glock in it and probably a spare mag.

thanks for the help

I have a Galco. I think they are too expensive and I don't like the leather holsters. That Original one looks just as good.

I have a Bianchi Ranger. I'm not sure they still make it, but it is a very comfortable way to carry. I've carried Glocks and S&W J,K,L and even N-Frames in it, under a tucked in shirt in total comfort. One thing I will advise anyone thinking of getting one though: The ads you see in gun magazines often show the gun carried at the mid-riff. The best place is at belt level, with the gun behind the strong side hip. Some people can comfortably carry it in front, but I've never found that comfortable.
There are a bunch of companies that make them. I think It's a good idea.
