When I got my FL permit it was less than 2 weeks. With the new Pres. they have been swamped with applications. Think I read last year alone applications equaled the previous 5 years combined.
There are problems with the number of applicants here in Paradise. Too many applications, too few application checkers.
I have students from December who haven't received their permits yet.
The Statute, though, gives the state only 90 days to approve or disapprove an application.
As I understand it, they are so far behind that when 90 days passes, they simply do a records check (NCIC/FCIC) and, if there is no record, put the application in the "Issue" stack and don't even check the fingerprints.
So, the application is "approved" at that time.
Then all that you wait for is the actual making of the permit with your photo. A little over 4 months total "they" say (at this time).
If I remember correctly it took my Florida permit a little over 90 days to arrive. It was one of the slowest ones. Pennsylvania and Maine were also very slow. Alabama, Connecticut, and New Hampshire were very fast. Alabama took less than a week. New Hampshire took less than 2 weeks and Connecticut was less than a month.
