I've seen it discussed in a couple different threads but I'm still not sure of the answer so maybe someone can clear it up. Regarding the safety lever removal on specifically the M&P 22 -which is what I have - is the hammer/striker fully cocked when the slide is worked or does it return to a position for a DA trigger pull? My understanding is that the 22 is fully cocked and stays that way until fired. I'm not going to remove mine and don't want to start any bickering over safety/no safety at all. I'm just not clear on how the 22 differs from the other M&P's (if at all).

The M&P 22 appears to be the same as the rest of the M&P line but internally is different. It has a enclosed hammer instead of a striker fired system. I'm pretty sure it stays fully cocked (not 100% but almost;)). The internals are almost identical to a Walther P22, of which I have 2. The idea behind the design was that they wanted a 22 that duplicated all of the external controls to preserve the model line similarity, but decided they didn't want (or didn't have the extra capacity) to build one in house so they had Walther build it.

Thank you for the replies - I have a better understanding now.
