Hello all I just bought my first gun which is the shield 40. Any info that you would have to pass on for a first time hand gun owner would be greatly appreciated. Quick question though what kind of lube do I need to buy? Is the Rem-oil that I have for my benelli shotgun ok. I plan on cleaning after every time its fired (session). Do I just break it down and clean like it says in the manual? Like I said any info on this or anything else you came across would be appreciated. thanks

Follow the manual.
Remoil is good. I use that on my full size m&p.

High and tight grip.
Good factory ammo.

Practice trigger pull and sight picture.

Lots of practice and lots of ammo.

Rem oil will be fine I use hoppes gun oil on my shield as I had it already and it works just fine
Strip it and clean and lube it prior to your first outing and after each time as per the manual
There are seven lube points on it and one drop per spot is all that it needs.
Enjoy it they are fun reliable and so far Ive not found any brand of ammo factory new factory reloads or hand loads that mine wont swallow up and spit out with out a hitch.

I use Hoppe's myself plus a thin layer of Lubriplate's gun formulation on the rails. Works great for me.

high web grip. start @ 3 yds, bull 2", POA bottom of 2" bull. it will group better than one can shoot. this will show the POI, if the POI is to the left, it is usually finger/ joint placement. it is a fine weapon. practice.
