I have never affected my grips affected. My stags are made by Grashorn Gunworks, I think the best quality you can get.

I have two sets of Sambar Stag grips on two matching Colt SAA Revolvers that I have used for Cowboy Action Shooting for about 15 years now. While I do not carry these revolvers on a daily basis, they are exposed to sweat and heat in the summer and have showed no signs of deterioration what so ever. Since they are a natural product that is exposed to every kind of weather and climate while they are part of the Deer, I would think that they would actually hold up better than most grip material would.

I have carried a 1911 with Elk Stags daily for over 15 years. The stags slowly change color and mellow to a yellower color. they are the toughest material out there and only get better looking with age.

I would love to get a set of stags for my j-frame. Sorry for budding in, but any links to suppliers?

If they are properly stabilized, they should be okay. Elk stag can have considerably more pith than Sambar.

I had a knife with non-stabilized elk horn scales and in the area that mates to the tang, the pith shrunk when it got wet, but it really got wet.

The maker replaced the scales with stabilized elk horn.
