Question to you that have bought from the forum

I am currently buying a $1000+ revolver from a well-known forum member. He works at an FFL, has been very accommodating, and sent everything I asked for: Photos of gun and it's SN, his Drivers License, Copy of FFL, Business email, Business Card, and I was able to verify him as a major employee by researching the business on the internet. We've been talking on the phone and texting for days.

Even so, I won't be comfortable until the gun arrives. I've previously only bought through G.B. or in-person from a LGS. I've been ripped-off by members of car and motorcycle forums in the past.

I'm wanting to make a purchase from an unknown member. What is best way to prove the buyer is not a scam and best recoverable form of payment?

i apologize if this should be asked somewhere else.

thanks, for any replies

I ran into a seller a while back that had some S&W M&P high cap .45 ACP mags. He had apparently joined the forum just to sell his mags. I explained to him about our aversion to buying anything from a new unknown member. I offered him a deal. I told him I had been on this forum for over 20 years and that a lot of people here know me. I told him to send me the mags first and then I would send him the money. He did and I did and then I gave him a positive feedback. This might not be the solution for every deal, but it worked on this one. I've bought many items here over the last 21 years and have not been burned yet.

Thankyou for the replies, I bought the revolver

I appreciate all of your feedback. I did get on the phone with the seller requested some additional pictures etc. I was concerned about the purchase because of the seller had no history at all on the group. Any way it turned out right the revolver was in great condition and as described. The seller was Leonard-S if any of you would be interested in any other items he offers for sale. He shipped quickly and everything was as described.

Thank you all
