Questions about S&W 4566

If the OP is at all like you're truly, you've got to feel good about both the gun and the deal. Depending on the condition of that 4566, $400 could have been a great deal, a good deal, or possibly just fair. Last non-TSW 4566 I came across was tagged at $549... probably out the door for $500 knowing that dealer. It was in fantastic shape (not an ex-cop gun) and if I didn't already own two TSW's, I'd have gone for it. It had sold by the next time I stopped at that shop. :o

I understand your point. OP is NOT like me, who NEVER sees Smith 3rd gens come into any local shops (seriously, the only one I've seen is a 6904 that I put on consignment) and would kill to find a 4566 at that price.

... and so would I if it is as nice as that last one I found. :) It's highlighted on my infamous "Guns that got away" list, which means I now consider it to have been a major flub on my part. ;)

The problem is that I don't know whether the OP had found a $400 "used & abused" 4566 or one in pristine LNIB condition or something in-between. :) I wasn't there. :D

But my main point is that I've got to be happy with not just the gun... but the deal (and the dealer) too. The truth be known, I recently walked away from a super 3rd Gen rare/scarce collector piece I found just because I didn't like the dealer's nasty, know-it-all attitude. (adjectives cleaned up so I don't get dinged) Okay, I cried about it afterwards for a couple of days, but now I'm good with what I did. :) There's always another "must have" gun around the corner. :D
