Questions for Current/Retired NYC Cops Regarding HR-218

That's a very good question. I tend to believe it would not apply and the gun/magazine would be good to go. LEOSA allows you to carry any semi-automatic provided you qualify with one. So let's say you have a 14 shot semi-auto and you qualified per LEOSA with it. Seems to me you would be okay to carry it.

I like to think I know a bit about LEOSA  so will do some research and get back to this thread soonest. I like to learn new stuff. That said, don't rely on my view as sound advice re: the mags just yet.

Be safe.

Is there a 10 round magazine capacity limit like Hawaii, even though carrying under HR218?

LEOSA makes no mention of magazine capacity. It now does about hollowpoints. It is going to have to be amended again soon to deal with the changes in state laws in regards to magazine capacity.

I've been to Maui a couple of times and chose a Glock 26 for its 10 round Mag. I had to register it with Maui PD. I figured the one time I registered it covered me on subsequent trips.

I carried under retired HR218. For my first trip I did some research and as I remember it I was required to follow Hawaiian law and both register my pistol and abide by their 10 round limit.

Just a heads up for you all.

Now if NY is 7 rounds can I down load my 10 round mags to 7?
If not I guess I'd bring a J-frame as my 1911's are Wilson Combats I'm not willing to risk to loss or theft.

yes 10 round magazine downloaded to 7 is the law, hopefully to be overturned in court asap.

Thank you for your responce.
I have a trip planned for back East this fall. I have a friend in New Hampshire, but want to see NYC too.

Carry this...no issues.
