Greetings. I have a Gen 4 Glock 22 that Ive never been in love with due to the grip size mainly. My first plan was to swap it out for a 23 or 19, then I fondled a M&P... big mistake.

That said, I was considering hitting up my wife to sell my G22 to purchase an M&P 9 Pro in a couple weeks, but today I found a guy in my area that happens to want to swap exactly what Ive got for exactly what he's got, and now I've got a couple questions.

1) I looked on the S&W website, and it appears the warranty is only for the original owner. Is there any flexibility in this? I know Glocks "informal" warranty if the life of the gun, and thats a big selling point for me.

2) What do I look for in a used M&P in the way of wear/ tear/ etc?

Thanks!

Make the trade and don't look back! S&W has never refused me on any warranty issue even on used gear.

This may be happening really quickly -- can someone tell me what to look for in a used M&P?

S&W service has worked on two of my pistols free of charge that I have bought used. (They even paid for the shipping.)

Legally speaking, the warranty only applies to the original owner.

That said, because the M&P isn't a complicated platform, you can check function at the scene relatively easily. All you need is a snap cap and a Number 2 pencil with a standard eraser on the end.

Place the snap cap into the mag and check function by loading it and ejecting it. There shouldn't be any hangs, hitches ,or problems. Its not reflective of how it will feed on the firing line, but this way you can isolate a particularly bad extractor problem.

The Pencil is used to check for proper function of the striker. Once the weapon is cocked , the pencil should fly out of the barrel once the trigger's depressed.

Field strip, and check for obvious defects or damage. Odds are the M&P is more than OK,and even if its not S&W won't stonewall you or dodge the problem like some gun companies will *cough BERETTA* cough**
