I'm looking at two models, one is the base M&P10 #811308 and the other is the Magpul one #811314.
The Magpul model is $185 more and comes with Troy Battle Sights and Magpul stock.
My dilemma: I'll scope this gun so the sights aren't that enticing, although I could put them on a Sport I have. I like what I have read about the Magpul stock compared to the standard stock so that has some value.
Is the Magpul version worth the extra $185?

I would buy the MagPul version.
The Troy sights, alone, will cost you that extra $185 if you want or need them. Many consider the MagPul stock/forend an upgrade, and would buy them later at extra cost anyway. Even if you don't like the MagPul stuff, and replace it with something more to your liking, it would be easier to sell than the standard stock/forend.
The MagPul stock should be more comfortable shooting than the standard stock. Although the .308 is a light recoiling cartridge, many shooters find the standard stock makes the M&P 10 uncomfortable to shoot.

I would have bought the magpul if it was in stock when i bought mine. You are essentially buying the troy sights and getting the magpul furniture for free.

Update:
Thanks for the advice guys, I knew you'd steer me straight!!

I bought the Magpul M&P10 and spent the extra $185.

A new caliber for me! Now I need ammo and magazines, this addiction is not cheap!!

My fourth AR by the way. And I didn't believe it when everyone said they tend to multiply.... :p

You know the rules didn't happen without pictures.:D

Wise choice I've bought the MOE versions of the AR and 15-22 and don't regret it. Buy as many magazines as you can afford you won't regret that either.

I was offered the Magpul for $1300.00 shipped, but didn't need the sights and planned to put a free float tube on it anyway.

And I just checked, the Magpul M&P10 is sold out, just the standard one is left.... Glad I got one!!

Congratulations on your new MSR. You won't regret it even if you decide you don't like the Magpul parts you can sell them and get your money back. They don't seem to be in stock for long right now, glad you got it when you did. Don't forget pictures.
