Quick question

Hey guys I have a question. I want to upgrade my standard 15-22 to the magpul version to match my m&p 15. I know I know I should have just bought that model to begin with but my local gun shop didnt have it in stock and they had too sweet of a deal on the standard for me to turn down. So here is my question I have been looking on ebay for some accesories and I have noticed they have both the commercial and mil spec stocks/grips etc. Now I would never contemplate putting anything on my .223 other than mil spec but would the commercial spec be ok for the 15-22? Any nay sayers

First off, the difference between milspec and commercial in this case is only size. Your "buffer tube" is milspec diameter, so you need to buy the milspec size.

Ebay is known for having Magpul fakes. I would order the parts from a reputable dealer. I buy my Magpul stuff from Primary Arms because it ships for free, and they usually have the best prices.

I also bought the standard M&P 15-22 because the deal was too good to pass up. I didn't want they MOE stock and grip, so I bought the CTR stock and MIAD grip.

Watch out for fake or airsoft Magpul stuff. If you are paying $30 for a Magpul stock, it's a guaranteed fake.

MAGPUL has great stuff, but I don't like their grip. Everything else it TOPS.
And I like aluminum free float hand guards

I went the same route: bought a standard 15-22, as the moe version was not yet availlable and furnished it with magpull goodies.
milspec ctr stock & miad grip.
works and looks great.

but as stated before: beware of fakes! I have seen fakes where even the packaging and the manual were imitated. buy from a trusted seller/dealer

The only thing on an AR15 that may need a confirmation is the stock, either Milspec or commerical. They sell both kind, make sure you know what your AR has. Milspec means just that, military spec, built to those specs and you can attach to any AR with those specs. Remember, .223 and 5.56 are very close, but they are different in the neck. .223 is the civilian version of a 5.56 and the pressures are less for that spec. 5.56 is the military spec and has higher pressures. So you can fire .223 in a 5.56, but you should NOT fire 5.56 in a barrel rated for .223. Don't believe me, read up on it. That is why you build a AR with 5.56 and you can shoot both .223 and 5.56 in the same weapon. Don't purchase a .223 barrel or you'll be stuck shooting .223 only. Good luck.

Ha ha thanks for calling me on that man. You are absolutely right I wouldn't attach anything but mil spec on my 5.56. Lol.
