We have lost a master at his craft. There will never be anyone like him. Earl Scruggs died today.

The world is a better place because of him and his music. I know of no better musician and I am thrilled to have heard him play. R.I.P Mr. Scruggs, "There's a better home a-waiting in the sky, Lord in the sky."

For those who think they don't know who he is, Google the name, you do know him, he touched your life.

Totally bummed to hear this. He and Lester Flatt were a duo I could listen to all day.

May he rest in peace.

Don't you know they are jammin' in heaven right about now.

That's some bad news, :(

I have an LP around here somewhere but no turntable. I used to listen to it as a kid and was thrilled when I saw them on The Beverly Hillbillies. Those episodes are still some of my favorites. "Pearl Pearl Pearl" :)

Them old boys are jamming together again and the rest of the greats in music heaven just got better.

Bless you Earl Scruggs as you blessed others.

I've very saddened, as my father also used to love them, and have seen them play at the Georgia Mountain Fair a couple of times.

I guess I will need to have a drink of some of that good ol' mountain dew that's been hanging around here for some years.

Don't you know that there must be one big hoedown happening behind those pearly gates tonight. I grew up listening and dancing to the music of Earle Scruggs and Lester Flatt. Their sound could put a smile on your face and a step in your feet.

It is like losing a member of my family. Earl Scruggs was an inspiration to anyone who ever picked on a 5-string banjo. Blue Grass is a uniquely American folk music, and Earl Scruggs was an undisputed master.

I will feel his loss when I play my banjo tonight.

Just saw the headline on Fox News. I grew up listening to Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe. All masters of their craft.

I hate seeing this. He was great. I liked him jammin' with his sons in The Earl Scruggs Revue. The Jimi Hendrix of banjos.

I was wondering if anyone else was going to mention the Earl Scruggs Review. Up until I heard them back in the mid-'70s, I thought bluegrass was just the music of the inbred. Did Earl and his boys ever open my eyes and ears.

RIP Earl. Thanks for the music.

They were a great team. If I where not on so much medication I'd go down a shot in their honor. May have next years felt hat made to look like his.

Earl Scruggs .........a true master who played REAL country music. R.I.P.

Always a bluegrass fan, myself, and play a little myself, but nothing like those guys. I loved the Blugrass Gospel even when I was a kid. Sad to hear of Earl Scruggs passing. I have several CD's of Flatt&Scruggs and even some old records.
