I'm new to the tactical style of rifle so bare with me....

I know the 15-22 has the picatinny style rails. I saw a scope and a laser that have the weaver style - are they interchangable ?
Right now I just use my rifle for fun at the range so it's pretty close distances and I don't need a scope. I thought the laser would be fun and found an inexpensive one with pressure switch at walmart of all places. However, it's set up for a weaver style rail. Will it work with the M&P rail ?

Thanks

the diffrence is slot placement a weaver will work on picatinny but, picatinny won't always work on weaver.

is it the $29 one from Walmart? if so I'd stear clear of it unless you shoot in doors. I put it on mine and outside on an overcast day even, I had a visible distance of about 10 feet.

Works great in doors though.

and yes it'll mount just fine ;)

Yes it's the $29 one. I mainly wanted it for an indoor range, but don't want to wast the money if it won't perform outdoors. Is there another brand/model you could recommend ?
Thanks guys for the rail info.

Red lasers work fine for indoors. If you want something that works for outdoors take a look at green lasers, not red. Still. green lasers have their limitations. I have a Laserlyte Kryptonyte, and is smokes in direct beaming sunlight under 50 feet. Beyond 50 feet in direct sunlight (shining on your target) forget it. If there are heavy clouds, it works real well. At dawn or dusk... it is awesome... In total darkness it is a sick puppy.... like light saber that you just have to see to believe.
