From the "What Does Need Have to Do with It" Dept.- I did need a new pair of Vise Grips, but I didn't really need a pair of gen-u-wine, Made In USA Malco Eagle Grips, made in the old Vise Grip factory in Nebraska. A pair of Milkaukee grips would have been good enough for occasional use. But I like good tools and since I had a $50 Amazon gift card, I splashed out for these, and they just arrived.
Gas tanks away from driver on military vehicles? MB’s and GPW’s ( WWII jeeps) tanks are under the driver as were the M-38’s and M-151’s. The WC series and CCKW 2 1/2 ton tanks were behind and below driver right under the cargo area. Same for the short lived 211 2 1/2 tons and early M-35 2 1/2 ton Deuce and a Half. Going diesel was the best. Our early M-4 Shermans were called “ Ronsons” by the Brits in N. Africa, not so good.
We have a new walking track in town that's walking distance from home. It's great for my wife and I. With her cancer treatments she needs to keep moving and it's someplace to walk on a nice day when she just doesn't have the energy for a hike in the mountains.
The local library's installed a book exchange box and a handy bench to sit and read a book.
Not too far from home's a state forest with a nice pond to hang out and relax at.
The local river's 'bout a mile from home. Hopefully we'll get a chance to go floating on innertubes sometime next summer.
We didn't get a chance to do any camping this year, hopefully next summer...
SF keep doing, it's good for the soul. I am so sorry you have this in you life and yet i am glad the two of you can get out and about together, keep it up.
We are never so poor for the life we live, but we are for the one we didn't.
Found a Sphinx Moth in our next door neighbors yard this afternoon. On its last leg I think. Looked like it was missing a eye and pretty tattered in spots. Wings still in good shape though. They really like the moonflower plants around here, as well as rangoon creeper.
No, it's not the western wild fires. It's the Cumbre Vieja volcano eruption that began today, on Spain's Canary Island of Las Palmas.
According to some volcanologists, the potential exists for a landslide from this volcano to cause a mega-tsunami spanning the Atlantic Ocean.
"Thanks for sharing." That cheered me up no end. Plus taking some comfort that I live on the west coast... and only have to worry about The Big One (earthquake).
