Range prices!

Wow after reading this I now realize how lucky I am to have the range that my dad and I built. We cleared out a patch of trees about 50 yards wide and 300 yards long with berms at 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yards. With a covered shelter, shooting bench, and a dry box for all our targets and PPE. We just hop on the ATV and ride down to the end of the range to check our round placement and to reset targets. But I guess that is the beautiful thing about living in South Georgia. And people call us stupid.

That's understandable. I lived near the airport and just shot around 295. Took me about 25 minutes.

What's the one at Atlantic and University called now. Used to be Southside Gun and Bullseye Indoor Range. I think his wife got that shop in the divorce and renamed it. Or did the ATF close it?

CW
I think that's just bullyseye gun and pawn then bullyseye gun range.

That's dreamy :) Heck, I'll take a 100 yard range! Wish BLM land wasn't so far from me. It's at least an hour & 30 minutes before we get to the legal shooting zone. I've never shot out in the desert so I'd have to find a good spot.

I am blessed. I built my 100 yard range on my property back in the 90's. have a carpeted, roofed shooting table(8')- with bench and storage. Have hanging gongs at different distances. Only accessable by ME or allowed friends. Second shooting area is off the back deck.......Up to 50 yards......Wife fusses if I don't sweep the 22 cases up when I'm through though.

Here in southern New Mexico, the local range in La Luz just raised their all day price from $3 to $5.19 incl tax. 200 yd rifle range, 50 yd. pistol range, and GP range.

Went to our local range here in San Diego yesterday afternoon. The range fee was $15 for the first shooter and $10 for the second/third shooter with no time limitation.

The place was packed and I waited for over an hour and I was still 7 spots down. I spoke to a couple of people ahead of me and they said they had been waiting for over 2.5 hours because range memembers kept coming in and they would get front of line privileges.

The way it was going, I would probably have to wait another 1.5 - 2 hours so I bit the bullet and bought an annual membership for $250 and immediately got to the front of line.

Now I get front of line privileges and can reserve a lane ahead of time, even during peak hours. Another plus is that I dont have to pay anymore range fees for the next year! If I go there at least 15 more times in the next year, the membership will pay for itself.

Damn, that's a long wait time! My days off are typicaly on the weekday so I don't go to busy ranges very often at all.

Hey there ECLIPZD95, I hear ya, the closest range to me like I said in my orginal post, is about 15 min. away and really is a nice facility, so I will bite the bullet also and spend the $200 for a membership. Yes there are perks to having a membership like you mentioned, reserving a lane & time and not having to wait:D, so I figure 10 visits in one year will more than pay for the membership;). Like I mentioned in the orginal post, range times for me are $25 an hr.

In Virgina Beach we have a number of indoor ranges, one is $11.99 for handguns, $14.99 for rifles and shotguns per hour (we were there for 1.5 hours on monday) under 18 and women shoot free with paid admission. 18 lanes. Yearly $125 with head of line if busy. Rentals are $10 and you must use their ammo. The other is $12 per hour under 18 and women free with paid admission. $120 for the year.

re: Range Cost

Last year a new indoor range opened near my home and my American Legion Post...I was AL Commander during that year. I approached the owner and asked if he would give a discount to anyone holding an AL or VFW membership card. So now...
We can shoot all day, any day for $12.50...great owner and gun shop personnel. I always figured if you don't ask, you will never know the answer.
If you are affiliated with a veterans' group, it might be worth a try.

Wish I could rent guns by myself. Always have to have a 2nd person, even if your a frequent visitor or member. Doesn't make sense, I have my own guns! Not going to off myself with a rental haha

i go to a indoor range about 25 miles each way, you can shoot any pistol cartridge & 223 which is great cause i love my ar, 13/hr free eyes & ears. longest wait ive had was like 10 mins, not over populated. the motors on the hangers could use a tune up & i always have too ask for staples, but oh well. many times ive had the range all to myself...

Boy did I get a rude awakening on range prices! Since moving to KY from MI it's like night & day :( I was paying $7.50 per hr. @ my favorite range in Taylor, MI, now that I'm down here in KY, the local range that is the closest has range prices of $25 per hr. I was checking out the membership fees & that seems to be the way to go (a weekday membership runs $199 per yr.) so I broke it down & the cost would be about $16.70 per month. So I think I'm going to gift myself with a membership for 2012 :D

Well I finally made it to The Gun Warehouse & Range here in Lexington and signed up for a 1yr. membership ($199) so now I can go a couple times a week or more:D. This was the best way to go, so now I won't have to pay the $20 an hour range time

The range a couple blocks from me charges $15.00 an hour. I didn't think that was to bad. Never asked about a membership, maybe I should do that. :)

Shooters here in Augusta is $12 for however long you want, $6 for a second shooter on the same lane. $6 on Thursdays for military.

Indoor range, haven't shot there yet (next week when the 15-22 gets here!)

Supply and demand. Local indoor range is $15/hr as I recall, I seldom use them as there is an hour plus wait for a lane on weekends.

I did have a $200-ish membership there years ago when I was killing 45 minutes every Tuesday waiting during my daughter's music lesson. Membership included "free" range time and priority in getting a lane. Members got the next available lane. But I only kept the membership a single year.
